Bill Baber, Looking Back,
Gesture
Gallery IMA is pleased to present the latest mixed media sculptural work by Seattle artist Bill Baber. He creates dynamic steel sculpture, incorporating various materials such as glass, bronze, and painting that encourage reflection as he reexamines the familiar, approaching the past with both expectation and question. His vivid use of color and fusion of elements enliven the imagination, opening a keyhole for travel into spaces of time.
Bill Baber studied ceramics and sculpture at the University of Washington, and served as an apprentice to artists Ali Baudoin and Harold Balazs. He has exhibited widely throughout Washington State and currently teaches art at the Bush School.

Ephemeras
Gallery IMA is pleased to introduce Karen Hibbard, and present her exhibit titled “Ephemeras”. The exhibit will include photo-etchings, prints and collages that examine the “visually poetic paths, patterns and gestures found in daily ritual”. Karen Hibbard’s work comments upon and reinterprets society’s views. She has an interest in issues of aging, gender roles and community. Looking for discrepancies within the work is a key to understanding its meaning.
Karen Hibbard received her Masters in Print media from the University of Concordia (2000) and currently teaches art at the University of Manitoba. She has completed artist residencies in both Denmark and Iceland and has participated in numerous exhibitions both in the United States and abroad. Her work is featured in such public and private collections as the National Bank of Canada and the Bibliothèque Nationale du Québec.
