Subtle Cues, a two-person exhibition featuring Gunyoung Kim and Kim Kopp.
Gunyoung Kim is a ceramic sculptor interested in communicating the "subtle and spiritual" side of humanity using the human figure. Through facial expression, gesture, and disfigurement, she seeks to expose an inner psychology shaped by vulnerability, imperfection, and the subconscious. Much like poetry, every element is carefully implemented and yet interpretations will vary from viewer to viewer. It is this implied narrative that keeps us questioning ourselves and the world around us. Kim Kopp employs techniques in drawing, painting, digital photography and printmaking, to investigate themes in the natural world, lending a keen eye to the intricacies within daily and seasonal changes. Routinely leading herself out into nature, she then allows nature to lead her back into the studio, where external observations are translated into the ethereal.
