Graham Fracha’s intuitive style is used to convey changes in nature and evolving landscapes. Overlaying his brushstrokes with charcoal lines and hard edge shapes, the sky and land collide. Architecture that once filled the horizon is sanded away and replaced with conversing natural patterns, exploring themes of "land, human presence, and boundaries." Fracha's latest series gives voice to new perspective as his fragmented forms and deconstructed subjects are reassembled into unified, yet visually disjointed landscapes, focusing on color, light, form, and texture.
Graham Fracha came to Seattle, Washington in 1992 to study at Cornish College of the Arts. His saturated color, loose draftsmanship, and bold compositions create unique and intimate experiences with our surroundings. His paintings are in the collection of Swedish Hospital, the City of Kent and numerous private collections around the country. Fracha’s work has been exhibited in Washington, California, New York, England and Paris
Jeffrey Cortland Jones describes painting as a physical activity and a material practice, rather than a narrative tool. He uses his medium to explore optical changes that occur between subtle differences in elements such as hue, opacity and transparency, or matte and glossy. He enjoys exploring how a hard edge can soften and how white can be both warm and cool at the same time. As he works, he meditates on thoughts of " What it's like to look through the fog; of the place between misplacing and finding; of the moment when a stable stack is on the verge of collapse..."
Jones received his MFA from the University of Cincinnati’s College of Design, Art, Architecture and Planning, and his BFA from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, both in Painting and Drawing. He is currently a Professor of Art at the University of Dayton where he heads the Painting program. In addition to making his own work, Jeffrey also actively curates exhibitions at a number of galleries and alternative spaces, including DIVISIBLE, a project space he co-founded in 2014.
