Exhibitions
Paul Metivier
Kathleen Skeels

OCT 4 - 27, 2018
Opening Reception:
Thursday, October 4, 6 - 8pm

Paul Metivier's recent body of work includes symbolic representations based on his memories of five brothers. He explores visceral realities that families experience with the growth and demise of each generation. Paul attempts to create a narrative of life’s uncertainty through memory and acceptance. Metivier earned his Master of Fine Arts Degree in Ceramics from the University of Washington in 2001. Before this, he earned his BFA from California State University, and an Associate of Fine Arts Degree from Orange Coast College. His professional experience beyond his own practice has involved lectures, workshops, and jurying of exhibitions. Since 2003, Paul Metivier has taught at Green River Community College in Auburn, WA.

In her new exhibition, Kathleen Skeels offers over one hundred of her drawings on porcelain tiles, alongside her latest sculptures. "For me my art is an alternate world, a place of possibility and discovery where I am at my most capable and where the rules are of my own making. Through my art I make intangible worlds tangible. Art gives me a serious playground that holds me enthralled for as long as it takes to complete the work." Skeels earned her BFA from the University of Washington in 1976. She currently lives and works in Seattle, WA, where she actively teaches workshops and gives presentations at Seward Park Clay Studio.
